Geneva care network

In Geneva, to face the COVID-19 crisis, the major healthcare providers have been mobilized to deal with the influx of COVID-19 patients. The canton, through its health department (DSES) requested the engagement of all available skills. Geneva’s private clinics, including the Clinique de la Plaine, have worked hand in hand with the University Hospitals of Geneva (HUG). Read more

This collaboration allowed to lighten the surgical program of the HUG, reduced to a minimum in order to increase their capacity in terms of acute and intensive non-surgical care.

All surgeries that could not be postponed for more than three months were carried out within the framework of cooperation between the public and private medical institutions. Heavy cases requiring special infrastructure, as well as some types of emergencies, remained managed by the HUG.

Just like during the first wave of the pandemic, the Clinique de la Plaine opened its operating theaters to HUG surgeons and patients. From November 2nd, 2020 to March 12th, 2021, the Clinique de la Plaine took care of 329 HUG patients (including 21 hospitalizations), nearly 20% of semi-elective surgical interventions carried out in private Geneva clinics in discharge of the HUG, which were able to focus their activity on COVID cases!
