Areas of specialization
Thanks to its small size, Clinique de la Plaine offers a privileged ground for exchanges between specialists, working in a spirit of collegiality, favorable to our patients.
Clinique de la Plaine offers eight surgical specialties and is a reference in Geneva for its four main specialties: gynecological surgery, hand surgery, plastic surgery and visceral & general sugery.
This specialty deals with all medical conditions affecting the hand, wrist and forearm, whether they may be degenerative, congenital or caused by a trauma.
When the hand cannot function normally, its reconstruction requires a careful study of all its functions and the real needs of the patient. Age, sex, profession, hobbies, are all factors to be considered when planning a hand’s reconstruction.
Clinique de la Plaine works with the best Swiss and international hand surgeons. They perform all types of operations, such as treating carpal tunnel syndrome, osteosynthesis in case of hand bones fractures, or hand vessels, tendons and ligaments treatments. The success of these interventions on the countless fine vessels, tendons and nerves that comprise the hand requires extreme precision and a great deal of skill from the hand surgeon. The doctor will prescribe post-surgery exercises for the restoration of fingers mobility, and frequently cooperates with physiotherapists or occupational therapists.
Equipped with the latest generation of technical equipment, Clinique de la Plaine also collaborates with the SOS hands service and the CH8, which is a center for hand surgery and therapy located accross the street.
Plastic, aesthetic and reconstructive surgery
Plastic surgery includes cosmetic surgery and reconstructive surgery. Cosmetic surgery’s purpose is to transform from “normal” to “beautiful” while reconstructive surgery corrects a defect: congenital malformation, traumatic, tumor sequel (mastectomy), etc.
The plastic surgeon is an expert in various treatment methods of cosmetic surgery. This is the person to turn to, for example, for surgical eyelid correction, breast enlargement, reduction or firming, or even liposuction or lipectomy. This is the person to turn to, for example, for surgical eyelid correction, breast enlargement, reduction or firming, or even liposuction or lipectomy.
This diversity is often at the origin of multiple border areas between plastic surgery and other medical specialties. The collaboration with surgeons specializing in other fields ensures the patient a better case management.
Essential in cosmetic surgery, a trustful relationship between doctor and patient must be established from the first consultation.
